A Cinemagraph GIF Design.

Queenstown’s iconic jet boat ride through the Shotover Canyons at 85kph - pure adrenaline with a side of pristine New Zealand wilderness. And a kitchen tap. This cinemagraph GIF uses the juxtaposition of stillness and motion to do what good design should: stop you mid-scroll and make you want to book a flight. The boat sits frozen on the lower left crosshairs while an animated tap - yes, an actual kitchen tap, borrowed from the tutor’s sink - pours continuously into the river, appearing to power the jet itself. Somehow it works. Your eye follows the turquoise water upward along the leading line, across to the falls, and your brain fills in the rest. Built using Serge Ramelli’s seamless looping technique, with a Film LUT Colour Lookup filter giving it that vintage postcard warmth. Typography is Anton, all-caps, tight leading tucked into the treeline, expanded tracking on the tagline. Inspired by the cinemagraph approach of French artist Julien Douvier. NZDP102 GIF Design.
