Salt, Rock and Play
Deep South, New Zealand
2025
This is a composite journey through the Deep South.
A coastal portfolio.
A photography portfolio built from the ground up in the Deep South - where the landscapes are vast, the light is extraordinary, and the edges of the world are genuinely within driving distance. The concept behind Salt, Rock & Play was simple: use the wild natural beauty of Southland as a backdrop, then bring it to life with a human element. People, animals, landmarks - something familiar inside the frame that gives scale, depth and a reason to linger.
All photography is mine, shot across the region with an eye for natural light, glowing skies, strong leading lines and the kind of raw, textured landscapes that make you want to pull over and stay a while. The cover design draws its palette straight from nature… ocean blues, sandy neutrals, warm golden light - with clean typography that echoes the solidity of southern rock without getting in the way of the image. Inspired by the long exposure landscape work of Rachel Stewart and Brent Purcell, this is a portfolio that reflects where I am right now and the landscape that’s shaping where I’m headed.
