The Burning Hour
Invercargill
2026
Down here at the bottom of the world, the light doesn’t do things by halves. The Deep South is famous for its skies - vast, dramatic, utterly unpredictable - and nowhere is that more apparent than in that quiet window at dawn when the day hasn’t quite decided what it wants to be yet. Inspired by the landscape photography of Andris Apse, I took myself down to the Invercargill estuary before the city woke up, and let the sky do the talking.
